9 Reasons I Unapologetically Believe in the Power of God
I don’t talk about my beliefs often because people can be reckless with their opinions. And I’m finally at a place in my life where I don’t argue with ignorance. Still, I also refuse to sit quietly while someone disrespects the God who has carried me through every season of my life. Yes, we are about to talk about God—the undeniable power of God.
This isn’t about convincing anyone to believe what I believe. It’s simply my truth—the truth of a woman who has seen God’s hand too many times to ever deny His power.
Here are nine reasons why I unapologetically believe in God.
1. I gave birth.
There is nothing—absolutely nothing—that compares to the experience of bringing life into the world. The pain, the strength, the surrender, the miracle of it all… there is no way I could have done that without God. When I held my daughter for the first time, both times, I knew I had witnessed something divine. Birth is proof of God’s presence, and no one can convince me otherwise.
2. I’ve survived more than one near‑death experience.
God has saved me from things I couldn’t save myself from—addiction, depression, self‑destruction, and situations that should have taken me out. I’ve tasted darkness in ways I don’t glorify, but I also know who pulled me out of it. My survival is not luck. It’s grace.
3. It’s easier to trust God than to worry about what I can’t control.
My mama always says, “If you’re going to pray, don’t worry. If you’re going to worry, don’t pray.” As a child, it sounded poetic. As an adult, it became a lifeline. Worry drains you. Trust frees you. God has carried burdens I was never meant to hold, and I’m grateful every day that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own. You can truly take anything to God in prayer, my friends.
4. God sees me in a brand‑new light every day.
People remember your past. God doesn’t. Every morning He gives me a fresh start—not based on who I was yesterday, but on who I can become today. He doesn’t call me by my mistakes. He calls me His child. That kind of love is humbling. It’s healing. It’s holy.
5. God is better to me than I am to myself.
There were times I didn’t want to live. Times I didn’t care about myself. Times I let darkness convince me I wasn’t worth saving. But God kept me anyway. He loved me through every low moment, every bad decision, every season where I didn’t even love myself.
His love has been the most consistent thing in my life.
6. I’ve never had a more promising relationship than the one I have with God.
He is everything—my Father, my comforter, my healer, my protector, my provider, my guide. There is no role He cannot fill. No need He cannot meet. No moment where He is unavailable. My relationship with God is the most stable, fulfilling, and transformative relationship I’ve ever known, and I take joy in growing even closer to Him every single day.
7. I started paying my tithes—and my life changed.
IYKYK. I’m not exaggerating when I say this: when I started giving God my 10%, my finances shifted in ways I still can’t fully explain. Within three months, I went from scraping by to making more money than I ever imagined. Obedience opened doors I didn’t even know existed. Simply put, God showed out—and He’s still showing out.
8. I’ve identified and accepted my purpose.
Writing was always something I loved, but I didn’t understand it was my calling until I got closer to God. He took something I enjoyed and turned it into something that touches people around the world and provides for my children. He gave my gift direction. He gave my voice purpose. And I know He’s not done with me yet.
9. Nothing feels better than glorifying God.
At the end of the day, honoring God is the most fulfilling part of my life. Whether I’m writing, singing, praying, or simply living in a way that reflects His love, nothing compares to the peace and joy that comes from choosing Him.
Falling in love with God’s son was the best decision I ever made, and I’ll never apologize for it.
